Text Box: CORE VALUES

While it is not unusual for cyclists to spend time in the gym as the transition into the early season begins, most will commence a gradual transition from gym-specific strength training to on-the-bike strength work as the competitive season approaches. Without diminishing the value of on-the-bike strength work, my experience shows that weekly gym time throughout the cycling season has its merits and can help to finish out the cyclist as the competitive season gets underway. (I can provide some articles to support this position upon request)

Masters athletes should pay particular attention to the importance of strength training...they don’t call us masters because we are getting younger...and the harsh reality is that the more “masterly” we become, the less lean muscle mass we retain (among other things). With this in mind, my TGV Core Booster Program© is designed to keep the lean mass in place without adding unnecessary beef.

I have spent the last three years perfecting and dialing the low time-demand, highly effective and season-long TGV Core Booster Program©. In a nutshell, the TGV Core Booster Program© will require, at most, 3 hours per week in the gym during the early season (1-1.5 hours each day for 2-3 days each week). This time amount tapers down to approximately one hour (30 minutes each day for two days each week) during the competitive season. No surprise here: the TGV Core Booster Program© focuses on developing and maintaining core strength with the option to tailor the peaking and tapering portions to address strength and/or power limiters.

The TGV Core Booster Program© is included in the TGV First Class Consulting Program or can be subscribed to for a flat monthly fee as a stand-alone program for cyclists who are interested in augmenting their training with a proven core strengthening program.
